Phoenix Rising FC players, families, and supporters recently returned from an unforgettable trip to England, experiencing some of the biggest rivalries in English soccer while exploring the history and culture of Manchester and Liverpool.
The trip brought the Rising players and families together from different regions for a unique opportunity to experience the passion of English soccer firsthand, with visits to two of the most iconic stadiums in the world: Old Trafford and Anfield.
The weekend kicked off in Manchester, where the group attended Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. Known as the Theatre of Dreams, the historic stadium provided an incredible setting for the group to experience the atmosphere of a Premier League match, surrounded by thousands of passionate supporters.
From Manchester, the group traveled to Liverpool for another highly anticipated Premier League matchup, this time between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield. With the match taking place amid the controversy surrounding Manchester City’s financial charges, the atmosphere inside Anfield was particularly intense. The energy from the Liverpool supporters made for an unforgettable experience and gave the group a firsthand look at what makes English soccer culture so special.
Beyond the matches, the trip offered plenty of opportunities to explore two cities with rich histories extending well beyond soccer.
In Liverpool, the group visited several landmarks connected to The Beatles, including the famous Cavern Club, where the band performed regularly during its early years, and The Beatles Story museum. Walking through the streets where one of the world’s most influential bands rose to fame offered a different perspective on the city’s cultural significance.
The group also spent time exploring different parts of Liverpool and Manchester, taking in the architecture, local attractions, and everyday atmosphere of two cities deeply connected to the history of English soccer.
The trip concluded on Monday with a visit to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, providing one final opportunity to experience another of England’s premier soccer venues before returning home.
While the matches were undoubtedly highlights of the experience, the trip was about much more than soccer. It was an opportunity for Phoenix Rising FC families and supporters to travel together, experience new cultures, and create lasting memories through their shared passion for the game.
Next Stop: Brazil for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup
Phoenix Rising FC is already preparing for its next adventure, with plans underway for a trip to Brazil in July 2027 during the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The upcoming experience will be primarily geared toward girls ages 11–17, with plans to incorporate training sessions and friendly matches, giving young players the opportunity to experience soccer in one of the world’s most passionate soccer nations.
However, the trip will be open to anyone interested in traveling to Brazil and experiencing the excitement of the Women’s World Cup firsthand.
From the historic stadiums of England to the energy and passion of Brazilian soccer, Phoenix Rising FC continues to provide opportunities for its community to experience the world’s game beyond the field.
