Kate Faasse has had a season for the history books, achieving milestones that solidify her place among the elite in collegiate soccer. A Phoenix Rising alumna, Faasse became the first Arizonan to win the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy, awarded annually to the nation’s top college soccer player. The junior forward for the UNC Tar Heels was instrumental in leading her team to its 23rd NCAA Division I national championship, contributing four goals and three assists during the tournament, including game-winners in critical matches. Her season totals of 20 goals and 44 points not only made her the nation’s leading scorer but also marked the best single-season performance by a Tar Heel since 2008.
Congratulations, Kate!
Caleb Flores, an attacking winger for the 2009 MLS Next Phoenix Rising team, was also chosen to represent the West Division in the U16 Best of Match at the 2024 National MLS Next Fest. In his third year as an MLS Next player, Caleb’s hard work, desire to be challenged, dedication, determination and positive and funny personality all contributed to him being selected as one of the West’s Division’s strongest players.
His strong performance on the field helped the West walk away with a tie against the East. It was an incredible opportunity for Caleb to be acknowledged for his efforts and talents, while solidly representing the strength of our players and Phoenix Rising FC MLS Next teams.
Congratulations, Caleb! We look forward to seeing where your talents and strong mindset take you in the future.
